The Toowoomba and Wilsonton Lions Club are hosting this special fund raising event for the Lions Medical Research Foundation with Guest speaker Professor Ian Frazer.

Since it began in 1963, the Lions Medical Research Foundation has supported internationally recognized medical research in a diversity of areas. The Foundation does this by funding early career medical scientists. The nurturing of these researchers, results in future medical successes, giving health benefits to all. Some examples of research: Parkinson’s Disease, kidney disease, Asthma, Urodynamics, Anti-venom, Immunology, Ophthalmology, Toxicology, Perinatal, Schizophrenia, Diabetes, Skin Cancer, Cord Blood, In-vitro Corneal Transplant, Cancer therapies, bone and joint disease and many others.

This research has given a greater understanding of disease, its causes and treatments. Not only has this research improved methods of treatment but also methods of prevention. The Foundation has provided much needed and important funding into health and cancer research that has assisted greatly in the search and gain of successful cures.

Gala Event

The event is sold out, we had originally provided a gift voucher of an accommodation package to raise money on the night. Since then we’ve been notified that the event is sold out and not everyone who wants to attend can do so.

As a way to continue our support for the event and the Lions Medical Research Foundation. For anyone associated with the lions club and the Gala Event, who provides the Special Promo Code, we will give them 15% discount for accommodation at the Golden Riviera Beach Resort, PLUS we will donate 10% of the total accommodation paid to the Lions Medical Research Foundation.
