You’d never know that nestled between Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta is the gorgeous little township of Tugan beside Currumbin. Our stunning Currumbin Beach accommodation puts you at a rather unfair advantage to enjoy this hidden gem of an area.
Currumbin is best known for the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. A great outing for the day that doesn’t involve fights in the car or the continual bleat of “are we there yet?” A quiet walk down the road, and you’re there. It’s an event to disrupt the high expectations of the Gold Coast theme parks, with an intimate encounter with a number of Australia’s best known and lesser known native animals. The sanctuary was started in 1947 by beekeeper and flower grower Alex Griffiths, who began feeding the areas wild lorikeets to prevent them from ravaging his flowers. The rest as they say, is history.
The lorikeets have remained and they are still fed daily but now there’s also kangaroos, koalas, wombats, dingoes, echidnas, Tasmanian devils, crocodiles and a host of other species just waiting to be seen. There’s also the Wildlife Hospital which provides expert veterinarian care for over 8000 native wildlife patients a year. There are guided tours through the hospital for you to see the vets in action and some of the patients on the mend. Kids of all ages will love the ropes course.
Currumbin family accommodation
Your kids can run free (sort of) at the Golden Riviera Beach Resort. There’s a huge heated swimming pool on premises with a heated spa pool, but best of all, the resort faces out onto Tugun / Currumbin Beach. The beach is surf patrolled. We have also deckchairs you can take with you out on the sand dunes and beyond. Relax, read a book and keep a watchful eye on the kids. Even better are our beachfront apartments with stunning ocean views and just a step from the doorway and you are onto the glistening white sand. Mmmmm.
Makes you want to book a holiday at our Currumbin Beach accommodation doesn’t it? Don’t be coy, book now for your next holiday on the Gold Coast at Currumbin.
